People

Ray was born and raised in Newcastle. After high school Ray completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Newcastle University and over the next twenty years worked in leadership roles in small business and multi-national organisations within the travel and tourism industry.

He came to know Jesus as an older adult and left behind his secular career to study at SMBC. After completing an MDiv in 2008, Ray spent 16 years serving with Pioneers Australia, helping mobilise, mentor and prepare people to share the gospel to unreached people throughout the world. He’s excited to walk alongside and support students as part of the Community and Student Care Team.  

Ray is married to Kathy, and enjoys regular exercise, catching up with friends, reading crime novels, a wide variety of movies, hosting visitors in our home and watching most sports. Ray and Kathy attend St Marks Anglican Northbridge, where Kathy works as assistant pastor.
