Teaching and Pastoral
Stephanie Leung
Fellowship Group Co-Leader
MDiv (SMBC)
Steph grew up in three different church contexts: two in the city, one in the country. Being in a pastor's family enabled her to try her hand at various ministries and grew in her a love for the Bible as a true literary work, and for seeing God transform people's everyday life. Steph honed her skills in literature and teaching at university, thinking she might use them in a high-school English context; however, she ended up leaving her Special Needs teaching role at a school to pursue her curiosity about ministry into an apprenticeship, where she met her husband Brian. They married in 2015 and have one daughter.
Steph worked in Education before coming to SMBC, where she completed her Master's of Divinity in 2019. While studying, she discovered a passion for floristry and eventually began running her own floristry business in her graduate year. She still does this today, enjoying the process of creatively expressing each couple's unique story as part of God's story of the offer of abundant life. Steph has spent the last three years on the pastoral team at St Mark's Darling Point ministering to children and families, as well as preaching and ministering amongst women.
This is Steph's first leadership role at SMBC. Over her college years, she has been on two overseas missions, been appointed a pastoral leader in fellowship groups, participated in prayer triplets, contributed to SMBC women's events and mentored fellow students.
